  • Step two: Configure the default paper size setting to A4

Step one: Check if the firmware Datecode is 20141010 or later

To check if the Firmware Datecode of the HP LaserJet M1005 MFP is 20141010 or later, print a Configuration Page.
To print a Configuration Page, follow these steps:
  1. On the control panel, press Menu/Enter.
  2. Use the < or the > button to select Reports, and then press Menu/Enter.
  3. Use the < or the > button to select Config report, and then press Menu/Enter.
  4. In the Product Information section, check if the Firmware Datecode is 20141010 or later. The Firmware Datecode indicates the year, month, and day of the current firmware in the MFP.
    NOTE:
If the Firmware Datecode is earlier than the 20141010, then follow the steps to download the latest firmware.
To download the latest firmware, follow these steps:
  1. Go to http://www.hp.com/support/ljm1005.
  2. On the Download options tab, click Get drivers, software & firmware.
  3. Select a driver language and OS.
  4. Click Firmware, and in the Firmware section click Download.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to download the firmware.

Step two: Configure the default paper size setting to A4

Check if the settings for the default paper size is set to A4.
To set the default paper size to A4, follow these steps:
  1. Press Menu/Enter.
  2. Use the < or > button to select System setup, and then press Menu/Enter.
  3. Use the < or > button to select Paper setup, and then press Menu/Enter.
  4. Use the < or > button to select Def. paper size, and then press Menu/Enter.
  5. Use the < or > button to select the size.
  6. Press Menu/Enter to save the selection.

Cause

This issue occurs when the paper size of the document for copying does not match the paper size setting on the printer’s control panel. If the default paper size is set to “Letter” when using an A4 size paper, the HP LaserJet M1005 MFP will not copy the full length of the A4 size paper, resulting in incomplete copies.
